Lollapalooza 2024
Back in July, my friends and I took a trip up to Chicago for the Lollapalooza Music Festival. This was my second time attending the festival, my time being in 2023 the year before, and it was much more packed this time around (most likely thanks to Chappell Roan’s well-deserved rise in fame during the summer), but I still had a blast despite the large grounds and stifling hot weather!
During this particular summer, I had just been starting up my journey into music photography, constantly trying to find ways to get my foot in the door of the industry. I hadn’t yet started my photography internship and knew little to nothing about how to start taking photos at live shows and venues, so I was taking any chance I could get to add photos to my music photography portfolio. I actually remember my boss had pushed me to apply for their photo pass to see if I could have a chance; of course, I had no clue what I was doing and I’m pretty I filled out the wrong form as well and had no experience whatsoever so I didn’t get it. But that didn’t stop me from trying to take some pictures at the festival, so I brought the only point-and-shoot camera I had access to (they don’t allow DSLR cameras into festivals) which would be my parent’s old Canon Powershot they rarely used for family vacations. Obviously, the quality of the camera is dated but I love the hazy quality it adds to the pictures it takes in that way (also the zoom is superior compared to my iPhone’s)!
This year’s lineup was stacked with a ton of artists I love, namely here are a few of my favorites I saw:
You can view some of the pictures I captured from the week below, and if you want to see some more of my music festival photography, you can check out my photos from Austin City Limits!
