Austin City Limits 2024
This may have been one of the most impulse trip decisions I’ve made in my life (it’s okay though it was worth it). My best friend back home and I were hanging out when she all of sudden asked me if I wanted to come to a music festival with her. If you’ve seen any of my other posts about festivals, you can probably tell where this is going: I said yes before even discussing any thoughts or logical plans for this trip (woops).
When it comes to taking trips, I tend to be a pretty impulsive person given I have the funds in my bank account to support my impulsive decisions. I will say yes to any side quests that come my way. My parents are also very last minute at planning trips as well so I blame them partly, but we also didn’t really take trips other than the occasional family vacation as kids which 80% of the time was spent at beaches thanks to my dad, so I’m just desperate to see the world and will use any excuse to travel.
Skip to a few months ago in August (I think? I can’t remember) when my friend told me the festival she was thinking about going to was Austin City Limits. In this instance, I did think for a split second and say “Wait isn’t that only two months away?” Regardless, we were able to scramble together the plan and got some resale tickets for Weekend 2 (sorry to my bank account, she’s still recovering). After two months and a couple of Buccee’s trips on the way there, we were at Austin City Limits for the first time!
Once again I got to see so many artists I love, here are a few of my favorites from the week:
Tyler, the Creator (his performance was surprisingly my favorite even though I was only familiar with his bigger songs at this point, but I loved it so much I went listen to his whole discography afterward and was obsessed with CHROMAKOPIA afterward)
As a music photographer, I love to get whatever photos I can at live music events like these, so I brought the old family point-and-shoot camera to ACL and captured some of the performances from the festival!
