A Trip Through the Bayou

Every time I go visit my grandma lately, my dad tells me to take my camera with me. They have a four-wheeler in the shed that they take to the bayou in the back most days, and he says I could get some cool shots if I go with him. I finally remembered to bring my camera the other day, and he was right!

My grandparents grew up down on the bayou in Southern Louisiana, and my dad and his siblings grew up hunting in the forest in the backyard with my grandpa, so it was almost like driving down memory lane when we drove back there. Of course, Iā€™ve also never ridden a four-wheeler before so I was holding onto the camera for dear life since we were driving through some shallow waters in the back.

It was so interesting to see some things left in the wild, almost as if moments stuck in time. For example, we drove past this mass of tin and random objects, and my dad told me they used to just dump their trash back here as kids and havenā€™t really touched it since. My favorite part of this was the old boat (or canoe? I canā€™t really tell) that was buried under everything.

There were other little artifacts we drove by, such as an old rusted refrigerator and an open area my dad had cleared out (he told me why but I totally forgot, woops). It was so cool to see the stories they left behind, though, and Iā€™m hoping I can get some of the photographs printed to frame for my family sometime in the future. Check out the nostalgic photographs I captured from memory lane down below!
